Rory's Show

The Rory Merritt Stitt concert last night was excellent. It was at this cool little bar/club called Nocturnal on E. Burnside. The bar part was in the basement, and the stage upstairs. They had a closed circuit TV system so you could watch the show from the bar. Rory was amazing. It was just Rory and his piano, and he captivated his audience. The boy can play and sing. It was a fantastic show. There were two other artists playing last night as well. They were good. One of them did a rock cover of 9 to5, the Dolly Parton song. That was a little interesting. I would say however, that all in all the night belong to Rory. He was the dominant champion of the three acts. Yes yes, I know it was not a contest, peace love, and harmony, yada yada yada, but there was a big difference.

After the show I hung out with some friends at a local pub. We were going to do a Karaoke bar called Chopsticks. However, once we were inside, it was packed. All the karaoke spots were taken and there was no where to sit. So we walked down the street to this other little bar. There were 7 of us in all. We sat and talked until about 2:30am. I had a drink I never tasted before called a fruit drink. I don't know if it was a new drink without a name or what, but they didn't ask my opinion of it either. It was basically a screwdriver with amaretto. Very strange citrus, nutty, sweet flavor. It was not bad. I don't know that I would have it again. I really don't like Orange Juice mixed with alcohol, it brings out the bitter taste of the OJ, or maybe bars just use really bad OJ.

After the bar we all headed back to our cars, and headed home. It was a great show, and a fun night.
